On the occasion of Vinayaga Chaturthi, we catch up with model-actress Samyuktha of Bigg Boss Tamil fame amidst the bustling streets of Mylapore, where vibrant Ganesha statues adorn every corner, setting the perfect mood for the season.
How special is Vinayaga Chaturthi to you?To me, the festival always means togetherness. I always look forward to the time I spend with my family on this day.
Every year, we finish our puja rituals in the morning and wait for kozhukattai and other sweets, especially thenga burfi, which is my absolute favourite. Lunch is usually a vegetarian spread that is always amazing. I can’t wait for it.
Do you have any memorable moment from the festival...I can only think about the food. Nothing beats the lovely lunch my mom prepares and a satisfying nap post that on Ganesh Chaturthi.
How do you pick your Ganesha idol? Do you have any particular place where you go every year to welcome Ganesha into your home?We do! We buy our idol in Besant Nagar near the Vinayagar Temple. We usually go for a very simple clay idol that has minimal work. More efforts go into picking the most beautiful umbrella and flower garlands for our Ganesha.
SAMYUKTHA’S FAVE FESTIVE SHOPPING DESTINATIONS IN CHENNAII love the hustle and bustle of Mylapore. It always excites me and you also get everything there. Other than that, Thiruvanmiyur and Besant Nagar have some cute nooks, too, for shoppers.
